Industry Challenges

Cian started by laying out the structure of the construction industry, highlighting the dependency on main contractors and the ripple effects of financial strains at this level. He discussed the significant impact of liquidated damages, labor shortages, and the increased cost of financing which are jeopardizing cash flows and leading to business closures.

Impact of COVID-19

During the interview, Cian pointed out that policies introduced during COVID-19, although meant to stimulate the industry, have inadvertently led to a mini boom that’s putting additional pressure on resources. This, combined with fixed-price contracts and the astronomical rise in material costs, has created a perfect storm.

Legal and Risk Management

The conversation also touched upon a case study involving a cladding fire, which highlighted the broader issues of supply chain management and risk. Cian emphasized the need for precise specifications and stringent compliance to prevent such disasters.

Conclusion

The challenges are daunting, but with expert guidance and strategic planning, Cian believes that recovery and stability are within reach. Quantum Contract Solutions remains at the forefront, offering innovative contract solutions to protect businesses from common pitfalls and enhance profitability.

  1. From the 1980’s on, all consecutive state and federal Govt’s have failed to govern for the greater economic good, society and the humanities. They have and still are grossly naive and mislead by the wrong people providing them with failed policy advise over several decades. That is why they are 100% to blame for the atrocious nation destroying mess that Australians suffer – and it is getting worse. It will never get better whilst governments ignore sensible practical advice from people who are experienced in business, the professions and front-line services.
Mountains of EVIDENCE demonstrate the terrible, shameless, failed governance and mismanagement of all consecutive govt’s.
All govt’s excel in ongoing advice including legal advice, on how to brush aside any sensible constructive ideas and suggestions, which are part of some better managed developed nations. Australia has been far worse managed than the PIGS countries, Portugal, Italy, Greece and Spain. Were it not for our wasteful and childish “rush” of unsustainable exploitation of our precious minerals and energy resources by exporting to countries including China who
value-add and export to their military allies, N Korea, Russia and some 45 more developing countries – Australia would be broke, with ‘soup kitchen’s for the poor and mass social suffering. When will the population as a whole protest and demand that govt’s stop wasting hundreds of billions of dollars annually – and adopt practical economic policies, that can be enacted so quickly and at much lower cost?
The land, building and housing industries have been ‘raped’ by gov’ts who are subservient to self-serving entities lucrative wealth creation – whist many builders go broke.
Australia with all its natural endowments, cannot provide workers to build affordable housing, including social housing? That is an international disgrace that places our govt’s last – at the very bottom of global standards of economic governance.
We and other countries provide visas for Fire fighters to hastily assist other countries bushfire emergencies. Yet our consecutive govt’s sit in parliaments and deny overseas experienced English speaking home construction worker the experience of coming to Australia during our emergency in the home building and construction sectors!
Yes to any sceptics – all our consecutive parliaments fail – and they do not listen to experience people with practical ideas and policy programs!
