The Bryan Adams Song that you Didn’t Hear

Here’s something I learned in the summer of 1996. That may sound like a Bryan Adams song but it’s not.

I would spend almost every summer with my cousin. It was always a great time but things were competitive between us.

I was slightly older than him… and when you’re young the age gap does actually make quite a big difference.

Typically I was the better athlete, but my cousin Brian had this one character trait…

When Brian got something in his mind he was ABSOLUTELY RELENTLESS.

So if we were playing pool I might win the first game, but he would insist on a rematch. Every time, even if I still won, he would want to play again.

What this meant is I’d get tired, and he’d get more competitive.

This means that I’m gradually getting worse and he’s gradually getting better.

Eventually, I’d stop playing and then he’d practise by himself.

Successful people don’t have an off switch. They keep going.

No matter what happens they keep showing up.

So what’s the lesson?

  • Keep showing up
  • Keep making incremental improvements

If you apply these lessons to your business you will be successful.
